Chestertons has restored a dedicated residential sales team in Chelsea, bringing it into the same Sloane Avenue branch as its lettings department. Property Industry Eye reported the change on 5 November 2026, nine years after the agency combined Chelsea sales with its Knightsbridge operation.

Harry Shaw has been promoted to lead the Chelsea sales team. He joined Chestertons in 2023 and has worked in Parsons Green, Mayfair and Knightsbridge. The new team will continue working with the Knightsbridge office, sharing buyer contacts and local coverage. The agency previously operated from Cale Street before the 2017 consolidation.

The change matters most to homeowners who want to know where their sale will be handled and who will take responsibility for it. Having a locally based team gives sellers another option when comparing agencies. Chestertons cited local demand in explaining the reopening, while the trade report gave no transaction figures to quantify that demand.

What to ask at a valuation

Start with the people you will deal with. Ask who will prepare the valuation, conduct viewings and relay feedback. If more than one office is involved, check which team will coordinate enquiries and negotiate offers. An arrangement can be effective across several branches if each person’s responsibilities are clear.

Ask for evidence behind the suggested asking price. Recent comparable sales should be explained in terms of the property’s size, tenure, condition and location. If the proposed price differs markedly from other valuations, ask what supports the difference and how the agency would review the price if the initial response is weak.

For owners weighing a sale against letting, ask the teams to spell out the two services separately. A useful comparison shows the likely timetable, fees and practical responsibilities associated with each choice. Confirm which work is included in the written terms and how the agreement can be ended.

The reopening is a change to Chestertons’ local service. Homeowners can assess it by comparing the proposed team, evidence and terms against the needs of their own property.
