The useful question in a landlord software comparison is how clearly each product handles your everyday work. A short, structured demonstration can expose practical differences that a feature list misses.

Establish the advertised scope

August describes UK landlord and HMO software with bank-connected rent tracking, expense records, documents and reminders. Landlord Vision describes rent tracking, financial reporting and document management for UK landlords. These are provider descriptions, not evidence from an independent performance test.

Test a payment correction

Use fictional records to ask how a part-payment, duplicated entry or wrongly matched transaction is corrected. Check whether you can see the original entry and understand the updated balance. Confirm support for your bank separately.

Test a document workflow

Add a sample document, assign a review date and inspect how an overdue action is shown. Ask what happens when the responsible person is absent. A reminder helps organise work but does not establish that a legal obligation has been satisfied.

Check reports and exit options

Review sample exports with whoever handles your accounts. Confirm plan limits, additional charges, cancellation and access to records after leaving. Record which tasks require a workaround before choosing. Claims about tax readiness should be checked against your own reporting requirements and the current supported service.
