Rightmove has narrowed its expected 2026 revenue growth to 6%–7%, from a previous range of 6%–8%, while increasing its underlying earnings-per-share growth expectation to at least 7%. The figures appear in the company's 6 November trading update and were reported by Property Industry Eye.
The distinction matters: a narrower revenue-growth range is not the same as forecasting falling revenue. The earnings outlook also moved in a different direction from the top end of the sales forecast.
What the industry report says
Property Industry Eye reports weaker buyer demand and sales agreed, alongside pressure from mortgage costs. It says Rightmove reduced its expected average revenue-per-advertiser growth because of weaker housebuilder spending, while leaving the estate-agency expectation unchanged.
The report also describes an expanding set of AI services for agents, including call transcription and property-performance summaries. These are company-reported developments, not an independent assessment of the tools' effectiveness.
What agents can take from the update
Our editorial view is that a portal's trading statement is useful context, but it is not a substitute for a branch's own evidence. Agency owners can compare enquiry quality, viewing conversion and agreed sales across their local instructions before deciding whether a national picture matches their patch.
Keep the measures separate. An enquiry is not a viewing, an agreed sale is not a completion, and a portal's advertising revenue does not measure the sale price achieved for a particular home. A useful management discussion asks where in that sequence activity is slowing and what the team can change.
The same discipline applies to AI tools. Before expanding use, decide what outcome will be measured: clearer call records, faster follow-up or fewer missed tasks, for example. More engagement with a feature does not alone demonstrate that the feature caused better commercial results.
For sellers, the practical question remains the evidence behind an asking price and the feedback from actual buyers. For agents, the update is a prompt to review local performance and service costs, rather than make a blanket assumption that every market or branch is moving together.
This is industry reporting and editorial analysis, not investment advice. Company forecasts may change.
