Rightmove's coastal market update of 29 May 2026 placed Bootle first among the locations in its annual asking-price growth ranking. Its average advertised price was £141,680, up 11% over the year.

The leading coastal locations

Crosby followed with growth of 9% and an average asking price of £330,900. Penarth and Llantwit Major each recorded 8% growth. Five places in the top ten were in Wales, four in north-west England and one in Scotland.

Across more than 100 coastal areas examined, Rightmove reported that over 80% had average asking prices below its national comparison figure of £378,304.

Reading the figures carefully

These figures describe advertised prices in a dated market snapshot. They are not completed transaction prices, rental yields or forecasts of investment returns. A rise in an area's average also does not establish how the value of a particular home has changed.

Buyers can use the ranking as a starting point for local research, while checking comparable completed sales and the characteristics of the property they are considering. The figures above remain labelled as May 2026 data.
