PMS Mortgage Club has launched Path90 with Maple Corner Consulting for mortgage and protection firms, Mortgage Strategy reported on 3 November 2026. The programme is intended for businesses at different stages, including those considering growth, succession or a possible future sale.

The reported process begins with a six-hour strategy session covering the owner’s goals and the firm’s people, costs and revenue. Participants receive a five-year plan, scenarios and priorities for the first ninety days. A portal tracks business measures, with quarterly consultancy sessions to review progress.

A plan needs clear assumptions

The existence of a five-year plan is not evidence that its projected growth will occur. An owner considering the programme can ask how assumptions are developed, how scenarios differ and which figures the firm must supply. Separate historical results from forecasts in any discussion of value or expansion.

Ask which measures are monitored and how they are defined. Revenue, margins and adviser productivity can tell different stories, particularly when workloads or costs change. Consistent definitions make a quarterly comparison more useful than an attractive chart built from figures calculated differently each time.

Make the initial priorities workable

Before taking on a consultancy programme, identify who in the business will provide information and carry out the agreed work. A list of priorities needs an owner and a realistic timetable. Discuss how progress will be reviewed if the firm’s circumstances change or the original assumptions prove wrong.

A practical question is what support is included between scheduled sessions. Ask for the fees, scope, access arrangements and cancellation terms in writing so they can be compared with the business’s needs. Do not infer those terms from a short launch report.

Use advice for the relevant decision

A business planning service and specialist advice on a transaction are different services. If succession or a sale becomes a concrete proposal, establish what legal, tax or other advice is required for that decision and who supplies it.

The launch adds a planning option for PMS firms. Its value to an individual business depends on the actual service, the quality of its data and how the resulting decisions are carried out, rather than the presence of a portal alone.
